Blessing comes into being through fact. Don’t even think of blessing in the absence of fact. April 4. 1989 Those who pray a lot aren’t bound to get blessed. There is blessing to those who don’t keep their minds dark, don’t accumulate grudge on the minds, work hard, and try to lead worthwhile lives after all. April 16. 1989
‘How do you distinguish between words of Tathagatha(The Enlightened Being) and those of spiritual guides.’ Spiritual guides’ words are very sweet and logical to the eyes of the blind. However, they are terrible to the eyes of the enlightened being. They are worse than those of a three-year-old boy. Then how about Tathagatha’s words? They are not colored at all. Not carved. They convey facts as they are. That is the difference between words of the enlightened being and those of someone who aren’t enlightened.
What I try to tell you through this time is that the most important teaching in education is truth. One of the questions I have asked most during my journey around the world is ‘what is philosophy?’ And I have asked the definition of philosophy and how they say philosophy with the definition. They say, “We are trying to understand it now.” At that time, I have said, “Searching for truth, examining closely truth, and revealing truth is the very philosophy. Brightening the truth of what is must be one of the objectives in philosophy. The definition of the word, philosophy is study and revelation about truth.” I say like this. Therefore, philosophy is the father of education. I say like this, “It is said that philosophy is the most fundamental thing in education. The essence of all the education is philosophy. In other words, the origin of education comes from philosophy. Philosophy is said to be the fundament of all the education.” Therefore, education is search for truth. Courses of education are learning and teaching things, delivering what exists in society as it is, installing new things, and helping to be able to gain things needed in life. However, today such things haven’t happened in our society for tens of years. February 8 1998.
